A Michigan home inspector was allegedly caught on camera as he reportedly used an Elmo doll as a masturbatory aid in a client’s child’s nursery.
59-year-old Kevin Wayne VanLuven is employed as a home inspector in Michigan.
On March 12, VanLuven was hired to inspect a home that had recently sold.
The purchaser’s real estate agent accompanied VanLuven into the house for the inspection, but the homeowner was not present.
While working inside the Detroit area home’s nursery, VanLuven reportedly picked up a “Tickle Me Elmo” doll.
The homeowner received notification from their surveillance camera of motion in the nursery, and she used the software on her cell phone to see what caused the alert.
When she looked at the live stream, the woman allegedly saw VanLuven with his back to the camera while facing the inside of the closet. The man reportedly began to masturbate with the toy placed in front of his crotch area. When he was finished, VanLuven allegedly put the doll back in its place.
The woman called the authorities to report the situation, and deputies discussed the allegations with the man.
He first allegedly said he was checking an electrical outlet, but after learning there was a camera in the room VanLuven reportedly admitted to the act and said he was sorry.
VanLuven was taken into custody and booked into the Oakland County Jail. He is facing charges for suspicion of aggravated indecent exposure and malicious destruction of property under $200.
He is being held on a $2,500 bond, and a judge ordered VanLuven to undergo a mental health evaluation.
Should VanLuven pay his bond and be released from incarceration, he is disallowed from being inside of any dwelling that isn’t his own.
If he is found guilty of the allegations, VanLuven could spend approximately 2 years in prison.
