A woman from western Florida may face charges after she allegedly struck her boyfriend and later poured bleach on thousands of dollars’ worth of his clothing because she believed he was having an affair.
On September 1, a man was asleep in the Shore Acres home that he shares with his girlfriend when she allegedly began hitting him on the back. According to reports, he left the residence and met the mother of his child in the parking lot at a local Walgreens. Things escalated when his girlfriend, who reportedly thought he was having an affair, drove to the location and saw the pair together. She allegedly confronted the woman aggressively, and when her boyfriend tried to break it up, she reportedly shoved him and then went back home.
When she got to the residence, the woman allegedly gathered a bunch of her boyfriend’s clothes and threw them outside. She reportedly recorded a video showing what appeared to be her dousing the items with bleach and then sent the footage to the man. The authorities were notified, and officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department began investigating the situation.
The man showed them the video his girlfriend sent him, and they also noted that he had an injury on his shoulder. When they spoke to the woman, she reportedly told them she reacted when she thought her boyfriend was having an affair.
The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of one misdemeanor count of domestic battery and one felony count of criminal mischief. She was released two days later after posting a $5,500 surety bond. The alleged victim estimated that between $2,000 and $3,000 worth of his clothes were ruined.
