Man Facing 50 Felonies for Dropping Beer Bottles off Building

A 51-year-old Spain-born man is facing nearly 50 felony charges after allegedly throwing many glass beer bottles from a balcony on the 41st floor of a high-rise luxury condominium building on multiple occasions.

According to the website, The Club at Brickell Bay, a 43-story building containing 643 condominiums, offers “luxury waterfront living” in the Brickell district of Miami, Florida. While it is known for being one of the finest buildings in the area, at the beginning of August, an individual reportedly began committing illegal acts on the premises in a spree that lasted nearly 20 days. It was reported that the suspect had dropped many glass beer bottles while standing on a balcony near the top floor of the building. When the building management company and the authorities became aware of the incidents, they began piecing together details to try to locate the perpetrator.

The management company took several measures to put an end to the situation, including installing a net and several security cameras. It was learned that the incidents happened several times between August 1 and August 19, and the beer bottles were reportedly dropped from a balcony on the 41st floor. It was estimated that $140,000 of damage was done to the building. Upon further investigation, the authorities believed the suspect was one of the tenants.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Turner Guilford Correctional Center. He is currently facing charges of 24 counts of shooting or throwing a deadly missile and 24 counts of criminal mischief of $1,000 or more. His bond was set at $62,500. Records reflect that he has been released, but he was issued a stay away order that prevents him from going back home.
