Man Fired Gun and Hit Woman During Fight About Kids

A Maryland man is facing many charges after he was accused of striking a woman and firing a gun during a domestic dispute.

On the evening of August 24, a couple in the Chesapeake Bay went out for dinner and drinks, and when they got back to the woman’s house things took a turn for the worse. According to reports, an argument regarding the woman’s children, who were in the home at the time, broke out between the pair. When the situation started to intensify, the woman tried to get the man to leave, but he reportedly refused.

Though she initially tried to make him leave, the woman reportedly grabbed a baseball bat and used it to break the back window of his vehicle to stop him from going. The attempt was unsuccessful, and the man walked out of the residence and took off.

When he returned, the man allegedly had a gun and began firing it into the air. The authorities were notified, and he left before they were able to reach the address. Deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office spoke to the alleged victim, and she told them he shoved her and shot the gun a few times. She also admitted to breaking his truck window. Ultimately, the deputies believed the man was the aggressor, and they went to his home to arrest him.

The 44-year-old was taken into custody and booked into the Calvert County Detention Center. He is facing several preliminary charges including first-degree assault, second-degree assault in the presence of a minor, possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of a crime of violence, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, transporting a handgun in a vehicle, carrying a handgun on his person, transporting a loaded handgun on her person, possession of a firearm without a serial number, illegal possession of ammunition, and intoxicated endangerment. He was released the following day after posting a $10,000 bond.
