Man Used “Nude Beach” Defense to Justify Neighborhood Stroll

A Florida man who was allegedly walking around his neighborhood without any clothing on was jailed despite reportedly offering the authorities what he believed was good justification for the act.

On the afternoon of June 9, a 73-year-old man from Lady Lake was hanging out in his community at the Recreation Plantation RV Resort. According to reports, he wanted to spend his Sunday in a state of total relaxation and he headed outside for a stroll around the neighborhood. While this is a typical weekend activity, the man reportedly changed it up when he left his clothing at home.

He walked past a few people, and when they saw the alleged spectacle, they called the authorities to report him and give them the address of the man’s trailer. Officers from the Lady Lake Police Department went to the RV and knocked on the door so they could talk to him about the claims.

When he answered the door, the police reported that he was wearing a shirt, but not in the traditional way it was meant to be worn. The man had his legs in the arm holes, and his genitals were hanging out of the neck.

During his arrest, the man allegedly struggled as he was being handcuffed. He explained that there are nude beaches in the state, and he believed he should be allowed to walk around without clothes.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Lake County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of one count of first-degree misdemeanor exposure of sexual organs, and one count of first-degree resisting arrest without violence. According to records he is being held in lieu of a $2,000 bond. He has a court date scheduled for July 2.
