Mom Wearing Boxing Glove Hit with Charges for Beating Student

A mother who reportedly wore a boxing glove to a middle school campus is facing charges after allegedly brawling with and injuring a student in the cafeteria.

Edith Riddle is the 34-year-old mother to a girl enrolled at Dupont Middle School in Jacksonville.

During the school day on March 19, Riddle met with the principal to discuss her daughter’s behavior.

While checking in at the office, a staff member noticed that Riddle was wearing a boxing glove on one of her hands. Riddle reportedly explained that she had gotten it stuck there with Superglue and was unable to remove it.

The meeting with the principal concluded during the lunch hour, and Riddle’s daughter reportedly made a stop in the cafeteria before the pair left the campus.

Riddle’s child reportedly approached another student and shoved them onto the ground before hitting them with a closed fist.

When Riddle spotted the alleged altercation, she reportedly jumped in with the boxing glove on her hand and struck the child several times.

A school employee announced the fight over the radio system, and a safety officer rushed to the cafeteria.

The alleged victim was reportedly discovered with scrapes and bruises, and it was asserted that Riddle had caused the injuries.

The girl was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital after her parent was informed about the incident and came to the school.

The alleged victim’s parent also reportedly stated their intention to follow through with criminal charges against Riddle for hurting their daughter.

Riddle was placed under arrest by the Duval School Board Police, and she is facing charges for suspicion of child abuse with a personal/special weapon.
