A man in Miami Beach allegedly tried to swipe a Jet Ski from a watercraft business and then shed his clothes before fighting the police and getting punched in the face by an officer.
On June 18, a man went to the beach and walked down the sand to a watercraft business at the sea line.
According to the manager, the man approached one of the Jet Skis and attempted to take it before he intervened and prevented him. He reportedly told the man to get away from the watercraft.
It was reported that the man saw a paddleboard handle nearby. He picked it up and reportedly snapped it in half before allegedly attacking the manager with it by hitting him in the back of the head.
The authorities were notified, and the police went to the watercraft business, where they found the alleged attempted thief in the water. When he saw the officers, the man allegedly shed his shorts and began making obscene gestures at them.
According to reports, children were nearby and could see the man and his actions.
When the police were able to remove the man, who they believed was intoxicated, from the water, he allegedly struggled against them until he was punched in the face by one of the officers.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Miami Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation Center. He is facing preliminary charges on suspicion of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, lewd and lascivious behavior, aggravated battery, providing a false name after arrest, grand theft, resisting an officer without violence, and assault on a police officer/firefighter or intake officer.
