Parents Charged After Baby Choked on Fentanyl

A couple is facing charges for endangerment after their baby was found in medical distress from choking on what was reported to be fentanyl.

27-year-old Echo Dunn and 38-year-old Robert Pilgram have a 7-month-old son, and they live in Bethel, Maine.

It was reported that on March 3, 911 received a call from someone that wanted to report that their child was choking on something.

The report was received by the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, and deputies went to the address.

When they arrived, the deputies reportedly discovered that the youngster was still choking on a foreign object and in distress.

Dunn and Pilgram were asked if they had any knowledge of what the baby might have been choking on, and they allegedly said that a straw containing fentanyl might have been laying on the bed. They reportedly thought it was possible the baby got ahold of it since the boy sleeps in the bed with the couple.

First responders went to the scene with an ambulance to assist with the situation, and it was reported that a deputy rushed the baby outside for immediate medical attention.

When the baby was in the ambulance, he was given Narcan to help reverse the effects of what was assumed to be fentanyl. The child was then taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

The authorities asserted that the boy’s parents were responsible for the incident, and Dunn and Pilgrim were cited. They are each expected to face charges for endangering the welfare of a child.

It was reported that after the baby was discharged from the hospital the Maine Department of Health and Human Services took custody of him temporarily.
