Police Found Felon Driving With Drugs and Loaded Gun

A man previously convicted of a felony was pulled over in Menifee and the authorities allegedly found methamphetamine and a loaded handgun inside the vehicle he was driving.

Sgt. Sam Morovich with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said that Special Enforcement Team officers saw a vehicle on the road and became suspicious that the driver might be doing something illegal.

When they performed a traffic stop on the automobile the driver was said to be Freddie Josef Castro, a 28-year-old man who is a convicted felon.

Castro’s vehicle was searched and the officers allegedly came across over an ounce of methamphetamine and a loaded handgun.

After obtaining a search warrant for Castro’s residence, “additional drugs, ammunition and a revolver were located,” as stated by Morovich.

The deputies took Castro into custody and he is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded weapon, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, and being a felon in possession of weapons and ammunition. He was jailed in the Cois Byrd Detention Center in lieu of $1 million bail awaiting a December 31 arraignment hearing.
