A man who has been on the sex offender registry since he was a child was accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Wichita Falls.
When he was 12, now 36-year-old Joshua Samuel Gravens was convicted of a sex crime for inappropriately touching his younger sister. When Gravens was sentenced, he was ordered to keep his name on the sex offender registry.
In 2009, Gravens was living in Wichita Falls and failed to register on time, and he was charged with a felony.
It was reported that recently, Gravens and a 16-year-old girl connected on Snapchat and formed a bond. The pair reportedly sent each other flirty texts that were sometimes sexual.
According to reports, the girl disclosed her age to Gravens, and the man allegedly told her he was 25.
Gravens, who is from Dallas-Ft. Worth and the girl decided to meet in person, and he reportedly went to her family’s home in Wichita Falls.
It is reported that on an unknown number of occasions, the girl invited Gravens to return. He would allegedly climb through the teenager’s bedroom window in the middle of the night, and the pair would have sex.
On August 14, Gravens reportedly went to visit the teen, and while they were allegedly engaged in sexual activities, her father opened her bedroom door.
The girl’s dad ran to get his gun and Gravens left before he returned to the room.
The mother of the alleged victim reported that she believed her daughter took off in a vehicle with Gravens. The girl went back to her house shortly after she left.
When the police caught up with Gravens, the alleged victim’s mom confirmed that the car was the same one she believed her daughter was in with the man. She also confirmed that Gravens was the man driving the car.
Gravens was taken into custody and booked into the Wichita County jail. He is expected to face charges of felony sexual assault of a child. Gravens is being held in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
