When the daughter of an allegedly intoxicated Florida man declined his offer to share pizza, he reportedly threw a slice of the pie in her face.
41-year-old Tyler Worden resides in Vero Beach, Florida. His 20-year-old daughter lives in the same town, but she has her own residence.
On the afternoon of March 23, Worden went to his daughter’s home with the reported intention of sharing a pizza.
When he got to the young woman’s residence, she explained that she was feeling under the weather and was not interested in eating at the moment.
Worden, who had reportedly been drinking alcohol before arriving at his daughter’s door with the food, allegedly did not want to accept her rejection of his offering.
The woman told her father she would like him to leave, but Worden allegedly became angry with her and started a verbal dispute. Worden’s daughter reportedly edged him toward the threshold.
When the man had a foot outside the home with his back turned, his daughter reportedly attempted to shut the door.
Before the woman was able to secure it, Worden reportedly grabbed a slice of pizza from the box and propelled it in the direction of his daughter’s door.
The slice reportedly flew out of his hand and collided with the side of her face leaving red sauce on her cheek.
The woman called the authorities to report the situation after her father allegedly continued to argue.
The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office sent an officer to the home.
The officer arrived and took note of what he determined to be tomato sauce stuck to the woman’s face.
As he talked to Worden about the incident, the officer believed the man smelled as if he had been drinking.
Worden reportedly admitted to throwing the slice of pizza, but he said he was sure the door was closed at the time.
It was noted in the affidavit that the “door opened outwards,” and the officer asserted Worden couldn’t have believed the door was closed.
Worden was taken into custody and booked into the county jail. He is facing charges for suspicion of battery, and he was released on a $500 bond.
