A California man is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman and held a shotgun to her face.
Early in the afternoon on November 30, a 60-year-old man was at the Litchfield home of a woman he knew, and a violent incident allegedly occurred between them. According to reports, the man harmed the woman physically, in addition to holding the barrel of a shotgun against her face.
Around 1:30 PM, the woman notified the authorities, and deputies with the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office went to her residence to investigate. The alleged victim told them what reportedly transpired and said the suspect left before they arrived. She let them know she believed he was at a nearby location and gave the deputies a description of the car he was driving.
It was reported that about half an hour after leaving the woman’s home, the deputies came across a van that fit the description she supplied. It was parked at the address she provided. California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire Law Enforcement went to the scene to aid the deputies, and they surrounded the property.
They reportedly used a PA system and tried to call the man’s cell phone, but he did not answer. The SWAT team arrived, and the man and a female were found together in an outbuilding behind the house.
Both parties were taken into custody and booked into the Lassen County Jail. The man is facing charges on suspicion of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, brandishing a firearm, felon in possession of a firearm, and prohibited person in possession of ammunition. He was held on a $60,000 bond.
The woman is facing preliminary charges of obstructing and resisting a peace officer. Her bond was set at $10,000.
