A man known for his work on an entertainment news show on the Univision network was arrested when he was accused of driving close to 120 MPH while intoxicated with his wife and two young children in the car.

El Gordo y la Flaca, which first aired in 1998, is an ongoing daily pop culture news show that airs on the Univision network. Early in the morning on May 18, 41-year-old Juan Espinosa, who is known as “Carlitos el Productor” on the award-winning program, was driving on I-95 in Brevard County, Florida. It was reported that his wife was in the front passenger seat and his two children, ages 1 and 8, were sleeping in the back of the car. Just before 2:30 am, a deputy with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was driving in front of the vehicle, later identified as Espinosa’s, and they reported that he was very rapidly approaching them from behind.

The deputy reported that it appeared as if the man noticed his vehicle and tried to quickly reduce his speed. He also alleged that before the car slowed down, he clocked it and got a reading of 118 MPH. After performing a traffic stop, the deputy noted that two youngsters were asleep in the back seats, and a woman identified as Espinosa’s wife was in the front passenger seat. When talking to Espinosa, the deputy believed he was acting like he had been drinking alcohol, but the man said he did not and would not consent to BAC testing or roadside sobriety tests.
