A daycare employee in Minnesota was taken to a hospital after the authorities said she was heavily intoxicated while supervising children at work.

According to a criminal complaint, the incident occurred on February 23 at a childcare facility in Plymouth, where staff initially believed the worker was experiencing a medical issue. Another employee contacted the authorities to report what was described as a possible panic attack. Children in the room were moved elsewhere so the situation could be addressed.

Surveillance footage later reviewed by investigators allegedly showed the employee’s condition worsening throughout the afternoon. The video reportedly captured her appearing unsteady, slurring her speech, and struggling to maintain balance. At one point, she was seen nodding off while attempting to fasten a child’s clothing. Moments later, she allegedly picked the child up and fell backward into a wall, causing the child’s head to make contact with the surface.

A former teacher educational childcare facility teacher is facing charges after being accused of slapping a 2-year-old across the face in response to him spitting on her.

According to reports, on November 4, children at the Kiddie Academy of Greenwood were helping the teacher clean up when one of the toddlers began misbehaving. The youngster started creating more of a mess by throwing toys, so the woman asked him to help the other children pick up. The boy, who was reportedly also using foul language, did not do as she asked, but instead spit in her face. The teacher allegedly proceeded to slap him on the left side of his face before removing him from the classroom.

When the daycare director learned about the incident they fired the teacher from her position. The surveillance video was collected and reviewed, and it was reported that it showed the child spit on the woman before she allegedly slapped him and caused him to slam into a cabinet behind him. The Department of Child Services was notified about the situation. The authorities were notified, and they were given the footage of the event. While watching it, they noted that the teacher admitted to slapping the boy after he spit on her.

After learning that they were allegedly providing melatonin in the form of gummy candies as a sleep aid for children at nap time, three day care center workers have been arrested on suspicion of endangering the life of a child.

19-year-old Jessica Heyse, 25-year-old Ashley Helfenbein, and 32-year-old Kristen Lauletta are employed as teachers at the Kiddie Junction Daycare Center in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Melatonin, a supplement that is commonly used to help people fall asleep, is sold over the counter in many health stores and markets. The hormone is naturally created by a gland in the brain and in most studies, it has not proven dangerous to consume more of it. It is reported that nightmares are experienced by some who use it, and that appears to be the most harmful drawback known at this time.
