An arrest was made after two juveniles in North Carolina discovered pills stashed in their treats from Dairy Queen, and the authorities believed it was their grandfather who tried to drug them.

On August 8, a 66-year-old man took his two granddaughters to get ice cream at the Dairy Queen in Wilmington. They took their order to go, and as they were eating their frozen desserts, it was reported that they noticed something unusual inside that appeared to be pills. Their grandfather stopped at a nearby gas station, and when he spotted an officer from the Wilmington Police Department driving by, he got their attention. The man reported what his granddaughters told him about the ice cream, and he gave them the address of the Dairy Queen they had gone to.

According to a statement from the police department, there were two pills inside each dessert. Initial tests reportedly pointed to them being MDMA (ecstasy) and cocaine. They viewed surveillance video to see if they could identify the person responsible, and the footage reportedly provided them with enough information to believe their grandfather had done it.
