A late-night crash in Milwaukee led to the arrest of a woman who allegedly left the scene of the accident and filed a false insurance claim to cover her losses.

On the evening of December 1, multiple 911 callers reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle that then left the scene. The injured man, later identified as a Lyft driver, was found unconscious but breathing. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he had to have multiple brain surgeries and remained in a coma.

When they arrived at the scene, police officers noted extensive damage to the driver’s car, which appeared to be consistent with being sideswiped by another vehicle. Pieces of vehicle debris were found around the crash site, and upon reviewing surveillance video from nearby cameras, it was observed that a light-colored SUV was traveling with only its lights on at the moment of impact. Paint transfer marks on the alleged victim’s vehicle appeared to match the color of the SUV in the video.

Authorities in Georgia reported that a man is facing numerous charges after an extended series of car crashes and dangerous driving incidents across multiple counties, all allegedly while under the influence of Xanax.

The chain of events unfolded on a Wednesday afternoon, beginning in Johns Creek and continuing through Fulton and Gwinnett counties. It was reported that the situation started when a beige Volvo struck several vehicles in Johns Creek. Instead of stopping, the driver allegedly continued driving until they reached Duluth, where additional cars were hit. Just before 5:00 PM, the police were notified, and the callers reported that the Volvo was in the wrong lane and had crossed over a median at one point.

When officers arrived in the area, they found three drivers who described narrowly avoiding more serious collisions. One car was hit, another said their vehicle was sideswiped, and another driver explained they had to swerve quickly to avoid a head-on crash. The Volvo itself came to a stop on the edge of a landscaped median in front of a Popeyes restaurant. The vehicle appeared heavily damaged from multiple impacts.

In a carjacking incident in Westminster the carjacker claims he was not aware of the three children inside the vehicle. The children’s father had left the car idling in a parking spot in front of a water store while he went inside, only expecting to be in there a short time.

Thien Nguyen’s defense attorney, in his opening statement, acknowledged that his client stole the Lexus SUV from a Westminster parking lot and led the police on a chase through multiple red lights.

Nguyen’s attorney also admits that his client quickly realized that there was an 11 year old boy in the passenger seat. But his lawyer denies that Nguyen purposely kidnapped the two boys and a girl. His lawyer also denies that his client intentionally rammed into other cars.
