A woman in Central Florida who sings and plays guitar at local spots was accused of driving under the influence after she left a town square venue and was caught speeding and operating her vehicle erratically.

On the evening of November 30, a woman driving a Toyota 4-Runner allegedly sped out of Lake Sumpter Landing, the waterfront mall in The Villages.

A deputy from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office was nearby, and they reportedly noticed the vehicle was being driven faster than the posted speed limit. It was reported that they were going 54 miles per hour, which is 19 miles per hour over the 35 miles per hour limit.

A Florida musician trying to get through a road barrier so he could set up his equipment at the venue where he was playing was accused of assaulting a man when he was denied entry.

Over Easter weekend, a 66-year-old man from the Village of Fenney was scheduled to play percussion with a band in a downtown establishment.

The street was blocked off with barriers for an arts and crafts show that was taking place in the same area.

A Sumpter County woman accused of driving under the influence of alcohol allegedly tried to get an officer to place a 25-cent bet on the elevated the level her breathalyzer test would display after she blew into the machine.

On August 19, 62-year-old Mary Westerlund was reportedly sitting in her vehicle near her residence in The Villages retirement community in central Florida.

A passerby spotted the woman in her Acura and they thought she appeared to be intoxicated. The Sumpter County police were notified to report the incident.
