White DUI Suspect told Black Officer Charges Won’t Stick

A woman in Tennessee allegedly informed a Black police officer arresting her for DUI that the charge would not stick because she is white.

42-year-old Tammera Lee lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s Office has a parking lot on their property that is only meant for use by employees of the agency.

On November 20, a vehicle was entering the secured section of the property when Lee allegedly snuck in her vehicle behind theirs.

After she reportedly breached the secured lot, Lee allegedly chose to park her vehicle in the sheriff’s office employee parking area.

An officer noticed the car Lee was driving and went up to the woman to see why she was in the private lot.

When he interacted with Lee, the officer reported that her breath smelled strongly of alcohol, and she had a hard time steadying herself while standing. The officer notified the Metro police since he believed she was driving while intoxicated.

When she was asked to do roadside sobriety tests, the authorities said that Lee initially tried to partake in the exercises but was not following directions when she was told what to do. Lee allegedly got frustrated and refused to cooperate with the rest of the test. The woman allegedly said “f*** you” to the officer when they tried to get her to continue.

The arrest report states that “several alcoholic beverages ranging from seltzers, beers, and IPAs” were found in Lee’s car.

When she was told she was under arrest, Lee allegedly became aggressive and told the officer, “I’ll get away with it cause I’m white.”

Lee was taken into custody and booked into Metro Nashville Jail for charges of DUI and violation of the implied consent law.

Lee is scheduled for court on April 1 regarding the allegations.
