A Wisconsin man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly struck a former co-worker with a vehicle in a parking lot in Mukwonago, Wisconsin.
Sources report that the incident occurred on February 9, shortly after the man was fired earlier that day from his job at a production facility that manufactures healthcare and consumer brand products. Authorities stated that the termination was reportedly related to alleged poor work performance and alleged theft of company time.
According to court documents, the man allegedly encountered a co-worker in the parking lot of a Dollar General store located near the manufacturing facility. Prosecutors reportedly reviewed surveillance video that allegedly showed the man driving an Audi slowly behind the co-worker. The footage allegedly showed the driver moving at a slow pace before the co-worker appeared to notice the vehicle.
Authorities stated that the Audi then allegedly accelerated quickly and swerved toward the co-worker as he reportedly attempted to move out of the way. Prosecutors allege that the vehicle struck the man, causing him to land on the hood and roof before falling to the ground. The driver allegedly left the scene after the impact.
The co-worker was reportedly found lying face down in the parking lot with a serious brain injury. Emergency responders were called to the scene, and the victim was transported for medical treatment.
Investigators reportedly asked a manager from the manufacturing company to review the surveillance footage, and the manager allegedly identified the former employee as the driver. Authorities later located the Audi at a relative’s home. The vehicle reportedly had damage to the hood and a cracked windshield.
According to prosecutors, officers found the suspect inside the relative’s residence, where he was reportedly hiding behind a door.
The man was taken into custody on February 11. He was booked into the Waukesha County Jail on suspicion of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and hit-and-run causing great bodily harm. According to records, at the time this was written, he was being held in lieu of a $750,000 bond.
