A Washington woman was arrested after the authorities said she led deputies on a high-speed pursuit through multiple counties before officers were able to stop the vehicle.
The authorities said deputies later located a white Chevrolet and attempted to stop the driver. She allegedly refused to pull over, leading deputies on a pursuit through the Puget Sound region as additional law enforcement vehicles responded.
Deputies eventually used spike strips in an attempt to slow the vehicle. The strips damaged one of the Chevrolet’s tires, but the driver allegedly continued traveling. Officers then used a Precision Immobilization Technique, commonly known as a PIT maneuver, to bring the pursuit to an end. The driver was ordered out of the vehicle and taken into custody.
She was later booked on charges of burglary, attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless endangerment, and driving without a valid license after it had been revoked. The authorities said her license had previously been revoked after she was classified as a habitual traffic offender.
The incident was said to have begun after a man contacted 911 and reported that a woman had allegedly entered his home without permission while looking for a 16-year-old girl. The caller told the authorities that the teenager was not at the residence when the woman arrived. The woman then left the area with two passengers before deputies responded.
Investigators later determined that the teenager involved in the earlier report was one of the passengers inside the vehicle. One passenger reportedly told deputies she feared for her safety during the pursuit and had allegedly asked the driver to stop. The authorities said the teenager and the other passenger were not injured.
