Woman Accused of Stealing Thousands From Target

A Florida woman is accused of stealing more than $3,400 worth of merchandise from the same Target store in Naples after making 18 visits over several weeks.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, Target employees noticed problems with her self-checkout purchases and contacted detectives. Investigators reviewed store surveillance while looking into what happened.

Authorities say she bought some items during the visits but took other items without paying for them. Investigators say 151 items were taken, with a total value of $3,472.02. The reported thefts happened between November 30, 2024, and February 2, 2025.

The items included everyday products and more expensive purchases. Authorities listed a $2.19 bottle of Dr. Pepper, a $5.60 box of mechanical pencils, a $54.42 throw pillow and a $795 mattress.

Deputies arrested the woman at her workplace in Naples on February 12, 2025. Bodycam video shows deputies approaching her inside an office building. They offered to move to a more private area so she would not have to be arrested in front of her coworkers.

During the arrest, she asked about her children and said one of her sons was home sick. Deputies let her make phone calls before she left. She told her husband that deputies were there to arrest her over the Target thefts.

She also asked whether being arrested for a felony meant she was already a felon. A deputy told her that she was being arrested based on probable cause and had not been convicted.

The woman was arrested on a third-degree grand theft charge and released on bond that day. Under Florida law, stealing property worth at least $750 but less than $5,000 is third-degree grand theft.
