Woman Arrested for Barbecue Sauce Battery

A Florida woman was arrested after allegedly attacking a man in his vehicle and injuring an officer’s hand before leaping out a two-story window in a purported attempt to escape.

On the evening of November 20, a man and his wife went to a relative’s apartment in Gainesville for a visit.

When they were leaving, the couple got into their vehicle and a woman from an adjoining apartment rushed out the door and began screaming at the man.

He began to pull away, and the man heard something strike the car. He believed that the woman had thrown a bottle at the vehicle.

Before leaving the complex, the man checked to see if any damage was done to the car.

The woman allegedly approached and dumped barbeque sauce on the body of the vehicle.

After the woman reportedly increased her intensity towards the man’s wife, he tried to drive away a second time.

Before he was able to get anywhere, the woman allegedly got the car door open and started striking the man. The woman reportedly forced her way into the vehicle and continued to assault him.

The authorities were notified, and a deputy with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office went to the address to investigate.

It was reported that there was still barbeque sauce on the man, the suspect, and the car.

When the deputy attempted to apprehend the woman, she reportedly ran to her apartment. He tried to prevent her from closing the door, but the woman allegedly slammed it on his hand several times before she jumped out the window.

The woman was caught and taken into custody. She was booked into the Alachua County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of burglary with battery, resisting arrest with violence, and battery on an officer. She is being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
