Woman with Almost 4 Times Legal BAC Arrested for 5th DUI

A Florida woman reportedly driving a golf cart with four times the legal BAC was arrested for her fifth DUI after allegedly scratching a car that belonged to a man that she was arguing with in a supermarket parking lot.

In the middle of the afternoon on Easter Sunday, a 45-year-old woman from The Villages visited a Winn-Dixie store at La Plaza Grande. She was operating a golf cart, and when she came to a stop sign a man walked across the street to get to the store entrance. The woman reportedly became angry and started yelling at him as he walked inside.

According to reports, she approached the driver’s side of the vehicle where his mother was sitting and left a noticeable scratch by dragging a key across the silver door. The man’s mom notified the authorities, and officers from the Lady Lake Police Department responded.

As the woman was trying to drive away in her cart, the police were able to stop her before she left. When they began talking to her, they noted that they believed she smelled like she had been drinking alcohol. They also reported that she was uncooperative.

When an officer took her ID and ran her name through the system, they learned she was convicted of four prior DUIs, three in New Jersey and one in Lake County. She was given a breath test, and it registered her BAC as .307 and .289.

The woman was booked into the Lake County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of felony DUI – 4th or subsequent offense, driving with a revoked license due to DUI, driving with a suspended license – 3rd or subsequent offense, and criminal mischief with damage of $1,000 or more. Three days later, she was released from custody after posting a $25,000 bond.
