“Good Teacher” Charged with Sexual Assault of Student

A Texas high school teacher is facing charges after the school board alleged she had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student.

Until recently, 32-year-old Katrina Maxwell was employed as a high school teacher at C.E. King High School in the Sheldon Independent School District.

Last October, Maxwell reportedly formed a close relationship with a 16-year-old student enrolled at the school.

Approximately five months later, their connection was reported as becoming sexual while school was out for Spring Break.

According to the alleged victim, Maxwell retrieved him from the home of one of his family members to take him to a hotel for their first sexual encounter. He said they engaged in sexual behavior many times during the vacation period.

Another employee at the high school said they became suspicious of Maxwell and the boy after watching how the woman responded to seeing the boy with his girlfriend. The person additionally alleged that Maxwell threw a pair of scissors in the direction of the student’s head when he and his girlfriend were seated together.

The employee took the information to the school district, and they set up an interview with Maxwell.

On June 8, administrators sat down to talk with Maxwell about the situation. They reported that the woman expressed she has always been a “good teacher,” and she was concerned the allegations would tarnish her reputation.

The school district notified the authorities and terminated Maxwell’s employment.

During the investigation, Maxwell allegedly said she did have a sexual relationship with the student.

Maxwell is facing charges for suspicion of two counts of sexual assault of a child under 17 years of age. She was released from incarceration after paying bail, and she is due back in court at the end of September.
