A man from Florida’s Gulf Coast is facing charges after he allegedly hit his mother in the head with spaghetti sauce while they were having a fight.
On the evening of August 4, a 41-year-old man and his 61-year-old mother were at the residence they share in St. Petersburg. According to reports, the pair sat down together for a pasta dinner, and the meal was interrupted when they began arguing. The reason for their verbal disagreement was not disclosed, but things escalated until the situation allegedly became physical. Though he did not directly strike her, the woman’s son reportedly threw spaghetti sauce in her direction, and it got all over her.
The authorities were notified, and police went to the address to see what was happening. The man was still at the home when the officers got there, but when he saw them approaching, he reportedly ran outside and into the backyard. They began looking for him, and the officers saw him in a spot that looked like he was trying to hide behind a shrub. It wasn’t long before the man was caught and detained. The police did not note any physical injuries in the initial report, but they said the alleged victim still had sauce on her.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of one misdemeanor count of domestic battery and one misdemeanor count of resisting an officer. Upon his release, he will be able to arrange for a police officer to take him to his home to pick up some of his things, but he is not allowed to have any contact with his mother.
