Police Chief’s Wife Jailed in Drug Bust

When three people were arrested in a narcotics raid that produced a reported $6,500 stash of heroin, it was discovered that one of the suspects is the wife of the city police chief.

When agents from Hall County’s Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad executed a raid on a home in Gainsville, Georgia, last Thursday, they apprehended three suspects for their alleged participation in drug-related crimes and activities after they learned that there was a large amount of narcotics in the dwelling.

During their search of the residence, the authorities reported that they found several different packages containing an estimated total of 20 grams of heroin, five grams of methamphetamine, paraphernalia, four Xanax, and two guns. They additionally allegedly discovered $3,000, and what they have purported is a ledger that was being used to record the transactions when selling drugs.

The owners of the home were identified as 63-year-old Albert Lee Scott and 26-year-old Samantha Ann Shugrue.  51-year-old Samantha Sheri Spillers, the spouse of the Flowery Branch police chief, was also at the scene at the time of the raid.

All three suspects were placed under arrest, and they were booked into the county jail.

Scott is being held without bail for suspicion of trafficking heroin, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Shugrue is also being held without bail, and she may face charges for one count of heroin possession.

Spillers, who is also being charged with one count of heroin possession, was granted a bail amount of $4,600, but she was still reported as being in custody a week after the arrest.

It was reported that the Flowery Branch City Manager does not believe that the incident will hinder the police chief from continuing to do his job.
