Burglar on Yacht Left Pile of Poop on Dock

A man in Southwest Florida was arrested for allegedly burglarizing a yacht and pooping off the side of the vessel, leaving a pile of excrement on the dock.

Just before 5:30 AM on September 17, someone boarded a 40-foot yacht docked at the Laishley Park Marina in Punta Gorda without permission from the vessel’s owner, who was sleeping. While onboard, the person allegedly wandered around and rifled through the personal belongings on the boat. It was believed that some of the items might have been stolen.

The alleged victim looked at the surveillance camera footage, and they notified the authorities about the incident. They told the police that the video clearly shows a man rooting around their yacht, and then dropping trou before defecating on the dock next to the vessel.

Officers from the Punta Gorda Police Department went to the location to investigate, and they reviewed the video. They saw a man sitting on a bench nearby, and based on his appearance, they believed he was the person of interest.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Charlotte County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of two counts of burglary of an occupied conveyance (unarmed), and one count of first-degree theft of over $100 and under $750.

After his detention, someone called the police and told them their car had been burglarized. The authorities asked the alleged victim if anything was missing from the vehicle. The caller described what they believed was taken.

The police thought the man who burgled the yacht might have been the same person who broke into the vehicle. They reportedly found that he had pictures of the allegedly stolen items when they investigated.

According to jail records, he is being held on a $15,000 bond.
