Clown Faced Rapist Returned to Victim’s Home Days After Attack

A sex offender in New York was arrested after he allegedly raped and robbed a woman, and then reportedly returned her residence in clown makeup two days later.

33-year-old Joseph Johnson is from Wyandanch, NY. He was convicted for forcible sex abuse against an 11-year-old in 2015. As a result, Johnson is listed on the New York sex offender registry as a level 3 offender, which means he has been categorized as a possible high risk to society.

On September 19, 2020, Johnson allegedly went to an area close to a Long Island train station and broke into many cars in the area.

On the same afternoon, Johnson went to a woman’s residence and allegedly illegally entered the dwelling.

While inside, Johnson allegedly robbed the female inhabitant after raping and assaulting her.

After the alleged attack, the woman placed several security cameras around the outside of her home to help her feel safe.

On September 21, the alleged victim received notification that her cameras had been disabled.

The surveillance equipment was found with the cameras facing in different directions than they had been placed, and the power cords had been cut.

Before the disturbance to the recordings caused the video to cut out, a man assumed to be Johnson was seen in footage with bright colored clown makeup on his face.

The authorities investigated the incidents and reported that they discovered DNA evidence proving that Johnson was the person at the woman’s home.

On February 10, the authorities took Johnson into custody for the allegations.

Johnson has been charged for suspicion of first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act, first-degree burglary as a sexually motivated felony, five counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, two counts of second-degree burglary, second-degree burglary as a sexually motivated felony, second-degree strangulation, and petty larceny.

His bail was set at $500,000.
