When a Florida pair began to fight during a spaghetti dinner, they allegedly shoved each other’s faces into the plates of sauced pasta.
35-year-old Adolfo Rivera and Stephanie Lannas 45-year-old share a romantic relationship and an apartment in Clearwater.
Rivera and Lannas sat down to have a spaghetti dinner together just before 1:00 am.
While they each had the plates of pasta in front of them, Lannas and Rivera reportedly got into a verbal disagreement.
The argument intensified, and the couple allegedly chose to use their meals in a physical altercation.
Both Rivera and Lannas allegedly picked up their plates and smashed them into the face of their partner.
The Clearwater Police Department was notified about the domestic unrest, and officers went to the couple’s residence.
According to the arrest affidavit, the authorities believed Rivera and Lannas had been consuming alcohol. They also noted that both of them were still decorated with the saucy pasta mess.
It was determined that both Lannas and Rivera would be taken into custody for their alleged participation in the incident.
Lannas was charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery. He has denied the accusations against him and entered a plea of not guilty.
Rivera was also charged with misdemeanor domestic battery, and she opposed the assertion that she was guilty of the crime. She pleaded not guilty as well.
It was reported that the couple has at least one prior instance that the law became involved in their personal business. Lannas was accused of felony aggravated battery last year for allegations that he stabbed Rivera in the arm with a blade. The case was dismissed after the prosecution chose not to pursue it.
