Deputy Constable Charged for Tasing Children

A mother in Texas lost her job as a deputy and is facing felony charges after being accused of using a taser to abuse her three children.

34-year-old Xochitl Ortiz resides in a home in Houston, Texas. She lives with and financially provides for her three sons, ages 11, 12, and 16.

Ortiz has worked in law enforcement as a deputy constable at the Harris County Constable’s Office for the past two years.

According to reports, Ortiz is involved in a romantic partnership with a man who is also a Harris County deputy.

The Constable released a statement saying that in the middle of April, he was informed that it was suspected that Ortiz was abusing her children. She was accused of using her boyfriend’s taser on each of them.

She allegedly used it on one child’s hands, another son’s shoulder, and on the buttocks of the third youngster.

While talking to her sons about the situation, the authorities reported that each child expressed fear about living in Ortiz’s house.

Ortiz was placed under arrest and booked into the Harris County Jail. She is accused of three felony counts of child abuse with injury to a child under the age of 17.

Ortiz’s bond was initially set at $450,000, but after submitting proof that she was unable to afford such a high amount it was dropped to $150,000.

There are several stipulations that Ortiz must follow when she is out of jail. She is unable to be around her children and her soon-to-be ex-husband, who is also the father of the children. Ortiz is not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages, and she is barred from possessing items, real or novelty, that appear as if they could cause physical harm.

Ortiz’s boyfriend was also fired from his job, but he is not currently facing criminal charges.

It was reported that the children are currently living with their father.
