DUI Suspect Drove to Court While Intoxicated

A man facing charges for his third DUI has been accused of driving himself to the courthouse while under the influence of alcohol to attend his arraignment.

58-year-old Lawrence Williams hails from Tyrone, Pennsylvania.

In 2021, Williams had two separate incidents leading to his being charged and convicted for driving under the influence of alcohol. He is currently on probation for those charges.

Last August, Williams was driving around while under the influence when he struck a mailbox. He was taken into custody following the single-vehicle accident.

Last November, Williams went into a store while he was drunk, and he wanted to buy more booze. When the authorities were called to the scene, he was found in his car and placed under arrest for his second DUI.

On April 22, Williams was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he allegedly crashed into a fence in Bellwood. Hospital testing revealed that his blood-alcohol level was .176. He was charged with his third DUI.

On the morning of May 5, Williams was ordered to appear at the courthouse for his arraignment. He was granted permission to use a rental car for traveling to the hearing.

When Williams arrived, it was reported that he had an odor emanating from him that caused the authorities to assert that he came to court drunk. They further determined that he had driven the rental car while under the influence.

Williams is facing an additional DUI charge for his alleged drunk driving to court.

He was booked into the Blair County Prison in lieu of a $40,000 bond.

If Williams can produce his bond and is released from incarceration, he will have to follow several orders. He will need to consent to random drug tests a minimum of once every 14 days, he is disallowed from possessing alcohol and/or non-prescription drugs, he will have to wear an alcohol monitor at all times, and he must undergo mental health treatment. Williams will also be placed on house arrest upon his release.
