A man dressed as the Grinch was locked up after he allegedly had an altercation involving someone dressed as a reindeer, in addition to a staff member at a Michigan bar.
On the evening of December 3, employees of an oil and gas company were holding a Christmas party at the bar at Hotel Indigo in Traverse City.
Four of the people at the party reportedly started arguing, and the hotel staff became concerned.
According to reports, when the employees approached, two of the men headed toward the elevator. One of them was dressed as the Grinch, and the other as a reindeer. The man in the reindeer costume was reportedly pushing the Grinch in the direction of the elevator.
The other men followed, and all four of them reportedly began to fight.
One of the employees notified the authorities, while another went to the elevator and stopped the door from closing.
The employee was reportedly shoved by the man in the reindeer costume, and they both fell on the floor.
The man in the Grinch suit allegedly jumped on top and started to punch the staff member.
It was reported that the hotel employee was injured during the scuffle.
When officers from the Traverse City Police Department arrived, they interviewed the employee. They reported that he was knocked down and had a broken watch, in addition to a bloodshot eye. He told the officers that the man in the Grinch suit was the one who assaulted him.
He was given a preliminary breath test in the parking lot, and the faux Grinch allegedly blew a .11.
Just after midnight, the man in the Grinch costume was taken into custody and booked into the Grand Traverse County jail. He is facing charges for suspicion of misdemeanor assault and battery.
The man in the reindeer costume was not arrested.
