Man Accused of Planting Hidden Camera in Applebee’s Bathroom

After the authorities looked into the report of a hidden camera located in a bathroom at Applebee’s they suspected a Long Beach man who works at the location was responsible for the act and he was placed under arrest.

On Sunday, one of the workers at the Signal Hill Applebee’s restaurant allegedly spotted a camera hidden in a bathroom inside of a trash can that had been modified with a hole on the side of the receptacle. The police were notified and they began investigating the claim.

Upon reviewing the contents of the camera taken from the trash can it allegedly contained images of eight women and one man which were taken while they were using the employee bathroom. The recordings were said to have taken place during a five-week period beginning on July 5, and the people depicted in the images also work at Signal Hill Applebee’s.

Long Beach resident Eduardo Augusto Garcia-Franco is a 49-year-old man who works at the restaurant with the alleged victims, and the police purport that he is responsible for the camera being placed in the restroom garbage with the intention of capturing images of his co-workers without their knowledge or consent.

Signal Hill police took Garcia-Franco into custody on Monday and he is facing 38 counts of unauthorized invasion of privacy by videotaping or photographing, and he could receive a sentence of up to 19 years of incarceration if he is convicted as charged.
