A Florida man who reportedly became so angered by being confronted about the amount of alcohol he drinks allegedly hit a woman and tried to flee from the authorities when they arrived.
Last week, a 37-year-old man from Summerfield was hanging out with a woman when things became intense.
According to reports, the woman felt that he was excessive in the amount of alcohol he drinks, and she confronted him about it. They reportedly began to yell at each other.
The situation reportedly escalated, and the man allegedly struck her in the face with a closed fist. She tried to call the police, but he reportedly grabbed at her cell phone in a purported attempt to stop her.
Her roommate was at home, and they notified the authorities to report the situation.
The man knew the police would be coming, and he left the residence and started to drive away. Before he was able to get far, deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department pulled him over.
Two mostly empty vodka bottles were allegedly inside the automobile, in addition to drug paraphernalia.
It was reported that the man admitted that he had been drinking alcohol.
The suspect, who has not had a valid driver’s license since 2021, was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail. He is facing charges on suspicion of domestic battery touch or strike, preventing use of 911, driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a traffic violation for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.
He is currently being held in lieu of a $10,500 bond, and he has a court appearance scheduled for June 6.
