Man Charged for Kidnapping and Abusing Elderly Parents

After his 91-year-old father was rushed to the hospital with a brain bleed, a Florida man was arrested and charged for allegedly kidnapping, neglecting, and abusing his elderly parents.

A man who lives in a home in Royal Palm Beach with his 91-year-old father and 82-year-old mother is paid to be their caregiver.

On February 2, his father was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a brain bleed.

The authorities were contacted by an outside party who reportedly told them they believed the man’s mother might be in danger. The caller asked that they go to the home to perform a wellness check on her.

When deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the residence, they tried to talk to the man, but he would not open the door. They reportedly told him that they were only there to see if his mom was okay.

According to the police report, the man yelled profanities at the deputies and told them to leave his property.

Law enforcement officials continued to insist that they be allowed to check on his mother, and the man reportedly grabbed her and dragged her to the window.

Officers snuck into the home and placed the man in handcuffs so they could help the woman.

It was reported that she is 5’6, but she only weighed 82 pounds, and the woman could not remember when she last ate.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. He is facing many charges, including neglect of an elderly person, elderly abuse, kidnapping, obtaining a firearm for an unauthorized person, carrying a firearm during a felony, possession of a concealed handcuff key, two counts of battery of a law enforcement officer, corruption by threat, resisting with violence, resisting without violence, escape, and false official statements. He was incarcerated in lieu of a $121,000 bond.
