Mom Arrested After Fight With Daughter Over Target Trip

A Florida mother was arrested after the authorities said she allegedly assaulted her daughter following a disagreement about a trip to Target.

According to an arrest report, officers responded to a home in Homestead late Wednesday night after receiving a call about a disturbance. Sources report that both the mother and the daughter contacted 911 during the incident. When the officers arrived, they reportedly observed visible redness on the daughter’s face.

The daughter reportedly told police that earlier that day, she had gone to Target with a friend after texting her mom to let her know. Her mother allegedly told her she was not allowed to go and continued sending messages while she was out, asking about her location and telling her to return home. The daughter reportedly stated that when she arrived at the residence, her mother grabbed her by the hair and pulled her inside.

Authorities reported that the daughter claimed her head was pushed against a wall near the front door. She further alleged that she was pulled into the kitchen, where her mother reportedly sat on her chest during a physical struggle, making it difficult for her to breathe. The daughter said she pulled her mother’s hair in an attempt to get free, and that her mother later tried to strike her with a mop. The mother reportedly denied hitting her with the mop and disputed parts of what her daughter said, but acknowledged that a physical altercation took place.

Both individuals were offered medical treatment at the scene. The daughter reportedly chose to remain at the home with her maternal grandmother. Authorities stated that the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified.

The mother was arrested and booked into the Miami-Dade County correctional facility. She is facing charges of child abuse, battery by strangulation, and aggravated assault. According to facility records, at the time this was written, she was still incarcerated.
