Mom Overdosed on Heroin with Toddler in Car

A mother is facing several criminal charges after she overdosed on heroin in her vehicle with her toddler in the back seat.

31-year-old Kaitlyn Carringer has a 2-year-old son.

Carringer and her son were reportedly in a parking lot at a Knoxville, Tennessee grocery store in a Ford F150. The engine was allegedly running, and her child was in the back seat.

Someone walked past the vehicle and looked inside. They got the impression that Carringer was not conscious and notified the authorities.

The person who called 911 turned off Carringer’s vehicle, and first responders rushed to the scene.

The police were unable to wake her up, and they believed she needed medical attention.

When the emergency medical service workers checked Carringer’s condition, they reported that she appeared to have overdosed on opioid narcotics. She was reported as being unconscious, and they used Narcan to help her.

When she was able to talk, the police spoke with Carringer about what led up to the incident.

It was reported that Carringer told them she and her husband were involved in a domestic violence incident earlier, and it led to him being arrested.

As a result of what she reportedly called “a bad day,” Carringer said she medicated with heroin. She also reportedly let the authorities know that it was not the first time that she has injected it but said that it was the first time she ever overdosed.

Carringer was placed under arrest and booked on suspicion of a first offense DUI and reckless endangerment of a child.

The youngster, who was not reported as having been injured, has been placed in the care of Carringer’s mother.
