A Florida man who is on probation for a domestic violence-related issue was arrested after allegedly running around naked before reportedly entering a thrift store and stealing a tee shirt.
On January 24, the Wings of Faith Thrift Store in Ocala was visited by a 38-year-old man. Before he went inside, the man, who was allegedly totally naked except for a pair of sunglasses, ran around in front of the establishment for a bit.
Several people noticed the reportedly bizarre behavior, and the police began receiving reports from bystanders. The witnesses also said they it looked like the man was holding a pair of shorts.
It was reported that in the meantime, the suspect reportedly went into the church store. He was approached by an employee, and she tried to give him clothing so he could cover his privates. Instead, the man allegedly swiped a tee shirt and ran out the door.
When deputies with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office went to the area to investigate the reports. Shortly after, they found a man who seemed to match the description of the suspect approximately one mile away from the thrift store.
The authorities spoke with the store clerk who interacted with the man, in addition to the store manager. They both said that they wanted him prosecuted for criminal charges for public nudity and stealing the shirt, which was reportedly being sold for $5.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Marion County Jail. He is expected to face charges for retail theft, indecent exposure, and an added charge of probation violation. He is being held in lieu of a $6000 bond.
