A Florida police officer was arrested and jailed after allegedly pelting his wife with a McDonald’s cheeseburger and punching her in the head during a domestic dispute.
According to reports, a 34-year-old officer with the Miami-Dade Police Department recently got into a serious spat with his wife of three years in their Miramar home. The couple, who have been together for eight years in total, have children together.
Late in the afternoon on August 10, the man and his wife began to argue. It was reported that one of the reasons for the fight was suspected infidelity. Finances were an additional issue fueling the fire.
It was reported that the argument escalated, and the man, who was in another room, went into the kitchen where his wife was. He grabbed a McDonald’s cheeseburger off the counter and allegedly threw it at the woman. The burger struck her, and he allegedly proceeded to punch her in the head.
According to the arrest report, around 6:00 PM, the authorities were notified about the incident. Officers from the Miramar Police Department went to the residence to investigate the situation.
When the officers talked to the woman, she told them about the argument and alleged physical altercation. She also informed them that he hit her with a cheeseburger, as well as his fist.
After collecting the information and inspecting the scene, the police determined that the man was the aggressor in the incident.
The officer was taken into custody and booked into the Broward County jail. He is facing charges of one count of misdemeanor battery for the alleged cheeseburger attack. He was released the following day after posting a $1,000 bond.
