The father of an infant is facing charges after he was pulled over and police found his daughter on the floor of the car and placed on top of a gun.
The authorities received a report from someone that was concerned because they said they believed that a man was in the midst of taking a drive with a baby on his lap.
Police responded and pulled over a vehicle matching what was described by the caller after they located it driving down a highway.
The man that was reportedly driving the car, identified as 24-year-old Detavis Madison, was said to have gotten out of the vehicle immediately after he came to a stop. The officers did not immediately see a child present but upon looking they allegedly noticed a baby on the floor on the driver’s side of the car.
The 3-month-old girl was allegedly placed on the floor on top of a gun that was believed to have been reported stolen from Atlanta’s Grady Stadium in 2016.
While inspecting the inside of the car the police reportedly found marijuana, in addition to 600 pills that they believe are ecstasy which appeared to be shaped like Lego characters.
When asked about the situation, Madison allegedly said that he had placed the baby on his lap because he was just about to stop the car and change her diaper, and that he realized this was not a good idea.
Madison was placed under arrest and he is being held without bond. He is facing charges for felony theft, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, felony drug charges and transporting a child in a passenger vehicle.
The baby was placed in the custody of her mother and she was not reported as being harmed in any way.
