Federal prosecutors in Oregon unsealed a case describing a multi-state drug trafficking operation that moved fentanyl and methamphetamine through the region.
According to court records, eight people were charged, including a Salem man accused of taking part in a federal drug conspiracy. The man was arrested, appeared in court, and was later released while awaiting trial.
Investigators said the case involved a trafficking network allegedly tied to Mexico that continued supplying drugs into the United States, with associates in Oregon and California to distribute them. Authorities said the group used several methods to move narcotics, including mailing packages disguised as everyday items.
According to reports, in December 2024, agents inspected a toy doctor’s kit shipped from California, and they allegedly found more than a pound of fentanyl hidden in a package coated with grease. Afterwards, a task force based in Eugene began tracking suspected traffickers across multiple states.
Over the following months, the authorities said they monitored movements in Oregon, California, and as far as New York City. In some cases, deliveries were interrupted, and arrests were made, but investigators said the larger operation continued.
Court documents described one Salem-based suspect who allegedly received large quantities of drugs from couriers and redistributed them locally. In one instance, the suspect reportedly sold about 100 grams of fentanyl to an undercover agent in a parking lot for $3,200.
Other incidents outlined in the investigation included a traffic stop in Eugene where fentanyl was allegedly hidden inside a cereal box, as well as a separate seizure of methamphetamine in Coos Bay. Authorities said one courier claimed she was paid per trip and had previously shipped drug-filled parcels disguised as toys.
