Store Manager used Teenage Son to Steal $5k in Staged Robbery

An assistant manager at a Florida Dollar Tree store allegedly took her 15-year-old son to the store to assist her in stealing over $5,000 during a staged robbery.

According to reports, one of the duties of the assistant manager at Dollar Tree is to handle the after-hours cash bank deposits when the store closes.

In the middle of August, some of the deposits were reportedly never received by the bank.

As stated in the police report, the missing cash deposits in question were from August 13, August 14, and August 15, and management noticed the discrepancy.

The assistant manager that was working on the nights in question was told that she needed to meet with the store manager and loss prevention so they could talk about the missing deposits.

According to the authorities, on August 19 and August 20, the deposits from the store again never made it to the bank.

On August 21, as the assistant manager was reportedly taking the daily deposit out of the store, she was robbed at gunpoint.

The woman called the authorities, and officers from the Clearwater Police Department began to investigate the situation.

During the investigation, the police reported that they discovered proof that the assistant manager planned the alleged robbery so she could steal the money. They asserted that she had her 15-year-old son act as the robber and use a BB gun during the staged hold-up.

The police reported that the woman said she set up the robbery so she could take the money, which was reported as being a total of $5,068.

The assistant manager was placed under arrest, and it is expected that she will face charges of suspicion of scheme to defraud and false report of crime.
