A man in Northeastern Colorado was jailed after he was accused of making two attempts to abduct an 8-year-old girl who was shopping with her grandmother at a grocery store.

On the morning of June 21, a woman and her young granddaughter were shopping together in a Safeway grocery store in Littleton. According to reports, their visit to the market took a frightening turn while they were picking out produce. A man reportedly walked up to them and asked the grandma if she would let him “borrow” her 8-year-old granddaughter. With his hands on the girl’s shoulders, he allegedly tried to force the child to walk away with him. The woman began to scream, and the youngster went back to her grandmother as the man ran out of the store.

Employees became aware of the alleged attempted kidnapping. The same man allegedly came back a few moments later, and when he approached the woman and her granddaughter a second time, the workers ran after him and made him leave. The authorities were notified, and deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office headed to the location to investigate. According to reports, when they talked to the youngster’s grandmother, she told them what happened and added that she had never seen or had any prior contact with the man.

Early last week, a Colorado woman who reportedly dodged the police multiple times was arrested for over a dozen charges when they finally caught her.

On January 27, Mesa County sheriff’s deputies spotted a vehicle that had escaped from them several times when they tried to pull them over. When they eventually located the car and tried to talk to the woman behind the wheel she took off. The authorities decided to try to capture her, so additional deputies assisted and formed a perimeter around the neighborhood with their cars to keep her from going too far. Shortly after, they saw the vehicle had been abandoned at a residence in the area.

While still in the neighborhood, the deputies encountered a vehicle without headlights. They got the driver to stop, and she reportedly gave the officers the wrong name and told them she borrowed the car from a relative. When they learned the address of the vehicle’s registered owner, they went to the home and reported that the individual said they did not loan the car to anyone.
