A woman trying to make a return on a purchase for which she did not have a receipt allegedly caused destruction in the store when they would not refund the money.

On June 17, a woman went into a Family Dollar Store in Lee County intending to return an item she reportedly purchased from them.

She went to the counter and let the clerk know what she wanted, and she was asked to present a receipt from the initial purchase. The woman said she did not have a receipt, so the employee denied her request for the return.

A Florida man was arrested after allegedly dumping two glasses of water on his brother during a dispute over pie, and he could face up to 30 years in prison if he is found guilty. 

Early in the evening on February 22, a 64-year-old man and his older brother were at their home in Lee County, Florida.  

The older brother reportedly had been saving a piece of key lime pie in the refrigerator for a few days.

A Lee County deputy is one of three people facing charges for allegedly working together to plant drugs on a suspect to set him up for an unlawful arrest. 

Niko Irizarry began working for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in 2018. The sheriff reported that Irizarry had never been reprimanded in his time with the agency.  

On December 16, 2021, Irizarry and two other men identified as 36-year-old Charles Custodio and 29-year-old Scott Snider allegedly orchestrated a plan to target a real estate agent for drug crimes.

A father who believed his son had been kidnapped by someone demanding ransom money reportedly learned that it was a scheme his son had set up in an alleged attempt to take his cash.

On August 13, the father of 24-year-old Austin Blake Hawks was reportedly contacted through Facetime by someone who showed him live streaming video of his son with a firearm against his head. His son was reportedly tied to a tree and appeared as if he was being held against his will, and the unknown caller asked for money to ensure the man’s safety.

The concerned dad notified the Lee County Sheriff’s Department about the situation, and they started to search for the place where his son was being held.
