A woman who was reportedly trying to escape from a Florida rehab allegedly stole the vehicle of a 70-year-old man and left him seriously injured after she reportedly ran him over with it two times.
On the evening of October 12, a man was sitting in his parked car in a lot designated for the Tampa General Hospital in Brooksville. While he was there, he was approached by a woman who reportedly dragged him out of the vehicle and tried to drive away. The 70-year-old attempted to stop her from leaving, but she allegedly put the car in reverse and ran him over. Hospital employees reportedly saw her run over him a second time as she drove away.
The authorities were notified, and the alleged victim was flown to Tampa General Hospital. Deputies with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office followed up on the report and they intercepted the woman driving the allegedly stolen car. They caught her after she left the vehicle and tried to run away, and she was identified as a 41-year-old woman who had been involuntarily admitted to the hospital under the Marchman Act.
