An Iowa man suspected of stealing a motorcycle was reportedly caught by the authorities when he Googled to find out how long methamphetamine can remain in one’s system.

53-year-old Robert Perez is from Iowa City.

Late in the evening on July 16, Perez caught the attention of a police officer when he was riding on a blue 2009 Kawasaki motorcycle.

An officer from the Largo Police Department was in the middle of an investigation when he asked the woman he was speaking with, 52-year-old Dariel Hutton, to search her purse for the automobile keys that she said she had misplaced and she reportedly requested that another officer perform the search through her bag.

Hutton allegedly began to look in her purse on her own and the officer was standing nearby as she shuffled through the contents trying to locate the keys when the officer reportedly noticed a glass item in the bag that raised his suspicion.

As reflected in the affidavit, the officer stated that he believed the object looked like a glass pipe with a piece of steel wool inside of it, “which is consistent with a crack pipe.” She was also accused of having a bag of white colored pills in her purse which she reportedly stated were ibuprofen.

A man and the woman that he lives with had been engaged in an argument in their Waterville, Maine, apartment on Thursday evening. Near 9:00 p.m., someone notified the authorities about the commotion and police dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, Waterville officers spoke with the pair and they confirmed that they had been quarreling, but their demeanor caused the police to believe that something else did not appear quite right. When they asked if they could inspect the premises, the residents gave the officers consent and allowed them access to the apartment.

When police were in the process of exploring the interior of the apartment they came upon a closet door and when they opened it they allegedly found a man hiding inside. Officers began to interrogate the man and identified him as 26-year-old Jared Colby who reported that he was not a tenant of the apartment, but a visitor. Colby also informed officers that he was facing criminal charges for an incident that occurred in 2014 and one of the conditions of his bail is that in circumstances where he is under suspicion he is legally required to agree to search and testing.

During a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle traveling on I-5 in Oregon, a State Police officer uncovered 201 pounds of marijuana in the possession of two men in a rented Ford Explorer. The men were allegedly transporting the large stash to Minnesota.

According to investigators reports Shakopee, Minnesota, resident Pandy Hout and Lor Meng of Sacramento, California, traveled by plane out of Denver and landed in southern Oregon at the Rogue Valley International Airport. After renting an SUV they headed to an unknown site in California and acquired 201 pounds of marijuana. It is purported that they intended to transport the cannabis to Minnesota.

On the afternoon of October 18, Hout, the driver of the vehicle, was speeding which caused an Oregon highway patrolman to pull him over. The officer suspected illegal activity and performed a roadside investigation. He searched the interior of the SUV and discovered several bags containing a total of 201 pounds of marijuana.

It is not illegal to drink and drive. It is illegal to drive if your blood alcohol content is at a concentration of .08 or above. It is illegal to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs such that you can’t operate your car with the caution and care of a sober person. Unless you have previously been convicted of a DUI offense, however, it is typically not illegal to drive after a couple of drinks. This article is aimed at those drivers—those who drive after having had some alcohol, but are nevertheless afraid that they could erroneously be prosecuted for driving under the influence.
