A gun was fired in Indiana Park on Monday when two grandmothers got into an argument concerning visitation of their grandchild. Both of the women are facing charges and were taken into custody for the allegations.
On June 25, 45-year-old Cristy D. Horton and 47-year-old Tammy Brickles were at Riley Park with their grown children so that one of the women could collect her grandchild for a visit. They had met there after a day that was reportedly filled with disputes between the families because Horton wanted to take her grandson to a fair at the park, and she was told she could not.
The families met at the park just after 6:00 p.m. and the child was inside of one of the cars when the grandmothers reportedly began to argue regarding visitation, and the situation became intense very rapidly. Horton purportedly grabbed a gun, resulting in her son quickly trying to get involved and to take possession of the weapon. At one point during the scuffle, the gun was discharged.
