Three teenagers in Delaware were arrested for allegedly stealing a car and robbing several stores.
Late in the afternoon on November 22, a 16-year-old male accompanied by two 15-year-old males were reported by an Under Armour retail store in Rehoboth Beach when the employees believed they walked out of the establishment with items they did not pay for. They reportedly drove away in a Chevrolet Cruze with a Pennsylvania registration.
A trooper with the Delaware State Police saw a vehicle being driven on the highway that fit the description, and they turned on their lights to pull over the driver. The person behind the wheel allegedly sped up and went through a red light before hitting the median and crashing into another vehicle.
According to reports, the teens got out of the car and tried to run away from the troopers. They were quickly detained and taken into custody.
The authorities reported that the vehicle had falsified registration tags and that it had been reported stolen. They also allegedly found merchandise from Under Armour and three additional stores.
The 16-year-old is facing preliminary charges of felony shoplifting over $1500, felony theft/organized retail crime over $1500, felony receiving stolen property over $1500, felony disregarding a police officer signal, felony second-degree conspiracy, two counts of shoplifting under $1500, resisting arrest, and citations for traffic violations. He was booked into the Stevenson House Detention Center and held in lieu of a $2,880 secured bond.
Both 15-year-olds are each facing preliminary charges of felony shoplifting over $1500, felony theft/organized retail crime over $1500, felony receiving stolen property over $1500, felony second-degree conspiracy, two counts of shoplifting under $1500, and resisting arrest. They were housed in the Stevenson House Detention Center. They were each ordered to be held on $2300 secured bonds.
