A Maryland woman was accused of threatening employees at a fast-food restaurant after becoming upset about how long she allegedly waited for her food.
According to the authorities, the incident happened on June 18 at a Taco Bell restaurant in Chester. Restaurant workers told investigators the disagreement began while the woman was waiting for her food order.
During the argument, the woman allegedly challenged employees to meet her outside in the parking lot. Staff members also claimed she lifted her shirt and displayed a handgun while using threatening language toward workers inside the restaurant.
After receiving reports of a person showing a firearm during a disturbance, deputies responded to the restaurant to investigate. When they arrived, the authorities detained two individuals. One person matched the description provided by witnesses, while the second individual was reportedly part of the same group and had been involved in the ongoing dispute.
Investigators later reviewed surveillance video from the restaurant along with cellphone footage recorded by an employee. According to the sheriff’s office, the recordings showed the woman lifting her shirt to reveal a handgun and placing her hand on the firearm while arguing with restaurant staff.
During the investigation, deputies located a loaded handgun on the woman. Restaurant employees subsequently identified her as the person involved in the confrontation, authorities said.
The 30-year-old woman was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault, displaying a handgun to another person, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment. Authorities said she was also barred from returning to the restaurant.
Court records showed she was released after posting a $5,000 bond. The records further indicated that she is represented by a public defender.
