Woman Caught Bathing Toddler During Burglary

The mother of a 2-year-old child woke up and found that a stranger had allegedly broken into her home and placed her toddler in the bathtub after entering the residence without permission.

Areica Hill has a 2-year-old son and they reside in Colombus, Ohio.

Early on Wednesday morning, Hill woke up when she heard her dog barking in her home. The woman climbed out of bed and peered out of her bedroom to find out what was causing the commotion.

When she looked down the hallway, Hill reportedly saw her 2-year-old and an unknown woman in the bathroom.

Hill reported that she saw the stranger hunched over the bathtub in what appeared to be an effort to bathe the child, and she immediately rushed down the hall to intervene.

When Hill reached the bathroom she started to hit the woman so that she could retrieve her child from the tub. Hill’s boyfriend, who was present at the time of the alleged break-in, proceeded to physically detain the woman until the authorities arrived.

The alleged burglar was identified as 22-year-old Elizabeth Hixon. When she reportedly tried to explain her intentions to the police she told them that she saw the child outside and was trying to help take care of him.

Hixon was placed under arrest and booked into the county jail for suspicion of burglary, and she was released from custody after she posted bond at the Franklin County Municipal Court.

Her mother, who spoke with the news about the incident, said that her daughter did not mean to alarm or hurt anyone, but perceived the alleged act as a heartfelt deed.

Hill, who was less than touched by the event, expressed that she hopes the authorities decide that Hixon will face additional charges for the incident.
